Marieke recieved her Bachelor of Music and her Master of Fine Arts degrees at the University of California, Irvine. She then taught at several community colleges, sang and conducted choirs at churches, and performed as a professional caroler during the holiday season. She moved to Eugene in 1996, where she opened Cantare Voice Studio, and continued her own voice training by entering the studio of Ms. Ellen Faull, formerly of New York City Opera. She also began training in Bodymapping with Barbara Conable (author of What Every Musician Needs to Know about the Body) and completed her training as an Andover Educator in 2006. She is currently continuing her Alexander Technique education with Cathy Madden of Seattle, WA. Marieke has sung with the Eugene Opera, Willamette Concert Opera and the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus. She has conducted the Girlchoir for Oregon Festival Childrens’ Choirs and was Chorus Master for Eugene Opera from 1999 - 2004. She has been a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) since 1986. She has adjudicated voice competitions for both the Oregon Music Educators Association (OMEA) and NATS. Marieke performs as part of a vocal/piano jazz duo, Afterhours-jazz. She also founded and directs Yuletime Carolers. In her vast amounts of spare time, she enjoys the company of her two teenage daughters and rides Harley Davidsons with her husband, Michael Clement.

Located on Willamette St., behind the Midtown Cafe - Gus Russell joins Marieke for an evening of sultry jazz. Saturdays at LaVelle's Bistro, 6:30 - 8:30 pm., dropping by to sing jazz with Gus Russell - October through May Wednesday, November 13, 7:00 pm.: Willamette Oaks Retirement Center, Eugene. " The 1930's - A Musical Revue" A one hour program filled with exciting music that first made it's appearance in the 1930's. Gus Russell on piano. Saturday, November 22, 12 noon at The Atrium, Eugene: Baroque arias with Early Music Consort. Richard Guy on harpsichord. Wednesday, Dec. 31 & Saturday, January 3 at the Hult Center: "Orpheus in the Underworld" by Jacques Offenbach.
